Брехт Бертольд (1898-1956), писатель, режиссёр, драматург. В 1933-1947 гг. был в эмиграции. В 1949 г. основал театр Берлинер Ансамбль. В философско-сатирических пьесах на современные, исторические и мифологические сюжеты ("Трёхгрошовая опера", "Мамаша Кураж и её дети", "Жизнь Галилея", "Добрый человек из Сезуана", "Кавказский меловой круг") с гуманистических, антифашистских позиций ставил актуальные проблемы. Ориентировался, как и в собственной режиссуре, на разработанные им принципы "эпического театра", предлагающего обращение не к традиционному "сопереживанию", а к трезвому разуму и критическому анализу. Ввёл т.н. "эффект очуждения" (Verfremdung) – новый ракурс рассмотрения привычного, использовал песни-зонги – модернизированный аналог античного хора, строил мизансцены по принципу кинокадра. Оказал влияние на весь театр XX в. Лауреат Ленинской премии (1954). Дом-музей в Аугсбурге, где Брехт родился и написал свои первые юношеские стихи. Дом-музей и центр по изучению творчества Брехта в Берлине (Brecht-Zentrum). Размещается в доме, где жили и работали Брехт и его жена, актриса Елена Вайгель.
